How business days are counted
Business days are the weekdays Monday to Friday. The calculator goes through every day from the start date up to the end date, leaves out Saturdays and Sundays and, if you tick the option, the public holidays of the country you choose.
Public holidays included
- United States: the 11 federal holidays, moved to Friday or Monday when they fall on a weekend.
- UK (England and Wales): the 8 bank holidays, with substitute days.
- Denmark and Poland: the national public holidays.
State, regional and one-off holidays (for example a royal event) are not included. If your company closes on other days, subtract them yourself.
Business days for deadlines
Deadlines such as “within 10 business days” are counted from the day after the start. To find the date itself, use the Add days to a date calculator and choose business days as the unit.

How many business days are in a year?
About 260 (52 weeks × 5 days). Without US federal holidays it is about 250.
How many business days are in a month?
Between 20 and 23, depending on the month and the weekdays it starts on — before public holidays.
Is Saturday a business day?
Usually not. Banks, government offices and most companies count Monday to Friday as business days.
