Random Number Generator
Pick one or more random numbers in any range — with or without repeats, whole numbers or decimals.
How to use the generator
- Set the lowest and highest number — both are included.
- Choose how many numbers you need. With No repeats each number appears at most once, like drawing tickets from a hat.
- Set decimal places for numbers like 3.75; 0 gives whole numbers.
- Press Generate again for a new draw and Copy to paste the result elsewhere.
How random is it?
The numbers come from your browser’s cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source used for passwords and encryption keys. The generator also avoids the small bias of the common “random modulo range” shortcut, so every value in the range has exactly the same chance. Nothing is sent to a server.
Chances
Between 1 and 100 each number has a 1 in 100 (1%) chance. Picking 6 different numbers from 1 to 49 can give 13,983,816 combinations — all equally likely.
Typical uses
Raffles and giveaways, choosing a random winner by ticket number, random samples for surveys, classroom questions, games and simulations.
Frequently asked questions
Is the random number generator truly random?
It uses the browser’s cryptographically secure generator, which is suitable for draws, games and security. Every value in the range is equally likely.
How do I pick numbers without repeats?
Tick No repeats. The generator then draws each number at most once, like tickets from a hat.
Can I generate random decimals?
Yes. Set the number of decimal places, for example 2 for values like 4.37.
