Grade percentage formula
Example: you earned 37 of 40 points. 37 ÷ 40 = 0.925, and × 100 = 92.5%.
Percentage of several tests
To combine tests, add up the points first and divide once. 18/20 and 40/50 give (18 + 40) ÷ (20 + 50) = 58 ÷ 70 = 82.86%. Averaging the two percentages (90% and 80%) would give 85%, which overweights the shorter test.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert points to a percentage?
Divide the points you earned by the maximum points and multiply by 100. 45 of 60 points is 75%.
How do I calculate a percentage from wrong answers?
Subtract the wrong answers from the total to get the correct ones, then divide by the total. 3 wrong out of 40 means 37 correct, or 92.5%.
Is the percentage rounded?
The calculator shows up to two decimals. Schools often round to the nearest whole percent before giving a grade, so 89.5% may count as 90%.
